Our gold plated Amitayus sculpture was hand crafted using the traditional lost wax method. As a result, the sculpture displays amazing detail that cannot be seen in lesser quality statues. The sculpture is a product of Patan, Nepal created by world class artisans using the sculpting methods of their ancient ancestors. The Nepali artisans have long been the preferred source of the Tibetan monasteries for sculptures and ritual items. Therefore, the buyer can rest assured that they have procured a monastic quality Amitayus sculpture.

Amitayus is depicted sitting on a single lotus pedestal in full lotus pose. Additionally, he holds his ambrosia vessel which is filled with the nectar of longevity. Also, he is adorned with the intricately sculpted crown and jewels of a bodhisattva. The robe is intricately engraved with elegant designs on the front and back. At the request of the buyer, we would be happy to adorn the crown and jewels of the statue with turquoise and red coral stones before delivery. The statue will wear them well and it will make a great addition to your altar.

Amitayus Sculpture Longevity Attribute

Amitayus has a very close affiliation with Amitabha Buddha. This is because Amitayus is the sambhogakaya embodiment of Amitabha’s longevity attribute. Indeed, Buddhas and high level bodhisattvas have the ability to appear in different forms. Therefore, they can take any form necessary to ease the suffering of sentient life.

Amitayus sculptures are the center piece of Tibetan longevity rituals. As part of the ritual, a vessel is filled with wine and consecrated. Additionally, each participant then drinks a small portion of the wine which is believed to prolong life. Click here to learn more about the origin of Amitayus.
