Before Guru Milarepa he became a venerable master of the Kagyu school he was a student of Guru Marpa. Local legend tells the story of the three towers that Milarepa had to build to gain the respect of Guru Marpa. Indeed, one of the towers he built in the 11th century still stands today. As a result of Guru Marpa’s guidance, Milarepa was able to overcome his past when he used sorcery to seek revenge on his adversaries. Our Guru Milarepa statue depicts this venerable master of Tibetan Buddhism.
