Manjushri is a Wisdom Deity

In Vajrayana Buddhism Manjushri is a wisdom deity who is considered to have the power to increase the practitioner’s knowledge, wisdom, memory, language skills et cetera. Manjushri can also take the wrathful form of Yamantaka, the “destroyer” of death. Therefore, in his wrathful embodiment he is considered to be a fully enlightened Buddha. This is a typical variation in the significance of Buddhist deities. As a result, in some beliefs the deity is a Bodhisattva and in others he is a Buddha. Therefore, Manjushri is considered to be both a Buddha statue and also a Bodhisattva statue. Click here to learn more about Manjushri.
