Our Handmade Medicine Buddha statue is depicted in full lotus pose on a double lotus pedestal. Additionally, there are special engravings that the sculptor included. Please observe the Tibetan auspicious symbols in his robe and also on the pedestal. There is also a diamond engraved on his hand and a vajra on the top layer of the rear pedestal.
The right turning coils on his head indicate that the teachings of the Dharma are universally correct. This is because in our universe the planets orbit to the right. Further indications of royalty include the ushnisha topknot, neck lines, elongated ears and third eye of wisdom between his brows.
Healing Attributes of Medicine Buddha Statues
Furthermore, this handmade Medicine Buddha statue is depicted with his traditional myrobalan plant held between his index finger and thumb in the right hand. Also, his right hand is displaying the classic Varada “gift giving” mudra. Buddhists believe that unwholesome karma is the source of all suffering and diligent practice is the cure. In the left hand of our Medicine Buddha statue he is holding his lapis bowl which contains the three nectars. These nectars will cure the three poisons of delusion, ill will and greed.
